Hi Lynda! I hope things have slowed down a little bit, and I just
wanted to thank you again for all your help with everything for our
Women in Aviation Day. I think it was a success!  I had the brochures
out there, and we had at least 70 people for Mary Feik’s presentation.
And from what I heard, everyone had a great time! So thanks again,
and I hope to meet you sometime in the future.

From the organizer: Thanks much Linda Meeks. Dawn was very excited
to be there and gave a great presentation I am told. All the guests
want to participate in the next event. I heard nothing but positive
responses from the guests. One thing I can tell you is that two of our
local aviation pioneers who each have been involved in aviation over
60 years say they learned something new about aviation. I believe that
says a lot!

From the GWW Dawn Wanzer, Airline pilot.

This past summer I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of young
pilots in Maryland at an event coordinated through Girls With Wings.
The attendees were all part of a flying club called Cloud Club II and
ranged from pre-solo to post private license. The President of the club
coordinated a 'Women in Aviation Day' to present the female viewpoint
of flying, but more so to open the kids' minds to opportunities they
never knew existed. I was amongst quit a few participants that were
involved in several aspects of aviation. As many spoke of their careers
as a flight attendant, air traffic controller, etc., I was excited that I
would able to bring a new 'spin' to the day. For not only was I a
professional pilot, but I was also able to present myself as a valuable
resource for these young adults to utilize for future guidance and
support along this new road they chose to travel! It was absolutely
wonderful to speak with them! They had no idea that there were
organizations like Girls With Wings that they could go to for
encouragement! Many had questions after the presentation and I have
spoken with a few since via email. It was great to be able to help
someone else, because with any industry or new challenge 'you don't
know what you don't know'.... So, to have questions and to be able to
go somewhere and actually get honest help is very comforting to those
trying to get into this business. Lynda has such a great organization! I
look forward to doing more volunteer work!

Title = Career Fair
Location = Mansfield, MA
Lynda,
Our Career Fair was so great!  We had 11 careers represented, mostly
from fields still male dominated.  The girls grasped a lot of information,
and amazingly even the adults found great interest in learning about
each other's careers!
Our Flight Officer who helped us out was Danuta Pronczuk from Milton,
MA.  She flew for Independence Airline, and brought along a great
scrapbook of her career to spur questions and conversation.
Thanks so much,
Denise Brown
