Girl Scouts playing Flight Instrument Game
Lynda and Rhonda with helpers
Dear Donna,
Thanks so much for the aviation lessons on Thursday for the Girl Scouts.
The girls loved it! You and your colleagues sparked interest for their future.
The girls went on and on to their friends about the field trip. They still carry
the phonetic alphabet card with them and share. Many asked about getting
up in the air in the Spring. You mentioned a program? [
Young Eagles].
Donna, you have a real gift of speaking and teaching. I was very impressed
with how you handled the girls. Can you please send us all your addresses
so we can send a thank you card?
Thanks again for your kindness and all involved!

education requirements and a general description of your job. Visuals

job you have, but they are not necessary.

2007 Aviation Expo

Twenty-one 7th grade students from the Rockport Middle School in
Rockport, MA attended the 2007 Aviation Expo held at Logan Airport in
Boston on October 18.  Students interested in attending the Expo wrote
four paragraph essays detailing their interest in the field of aviation.  In the
essays, students discussed their future aviation career goals, personal
experiences with flight, and family or friends who are connected to the airline
industry.  At the Expo, there were several display booths hosted by aviation
colleges such as Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daniel Webster
College, the FAA, airport security, K-9 units, air traffic control, Civil Air
Patrol, Young Eagles, U.S. Department of Transportation, Transport
Security Administration, UPS, massport, MASS Aeronautics
Commission...and many more.  Aircraft were displayed both inside as well as
outside the hangar. After the Expo, the students visited Beverly Airport in
Beverly, MA and watched the planes and small jets taxi, arrive, and depart.
The photo was taken at Beverly
Airport and in the foreground

Brownies Blast Off With NASA
Two hundred Brownie Girl Scouts learned about aviation and space flight at the
"Brownie Blast Off" held at NASA Glenn on November 17. The Brownies are
members of the newly formed Girl Scouts of North East Ohio council
representing 18 counties. During morning and afternoon sessions, groups of
100 girls, rotated through six activity stations learning about flight (from a
commercial pilot), space suits, living on the moon, the solar system and more.
NASA and the Girl Scouts organized the event as part of an ongoing
partnership to encourage girls to consider a future in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Girl Scout volunteers ran most of the
stations with oversight from NASA Glenn volunteers Nancy Hall, Susan
Johnson and Dennis Stocker from the Research and Technology Directorate.
